| Description of Project | Camp Unity West is sponsored by the Multicultural Awareness Council, a group of Peace Corps volunteers who are dedicated to promoting ethnic and religious tolerance in Ukraine. The camp will provide an opportunity for Ukrainian students (ages 14-18) to blend the traditional American style summer camp experience with lessons focusing on increasing multicultural awareness, tolerance, and diversity in Ukraine.
Daily activities and lessons will be built around the themes of establishing cultural identity, understanding differences, and promoting tolerance. The camp will host several guest speakers of different minority groups to help put the camp's themes into perspective. These guests will teach about their cultures, share their traditions, and discuss their experiences as minorities. |
